Scott’s long-standing involvement reflects a deep commitment to community, service, and peer connection.

Scott enlisted in the United States Army in March 1973 and served as a tracked vehicle mechanic at Fort Carson. Shortly before his discharge, he met his wife, Karen, and the two decided to make Colorado Springs their home—a place they have remained rooted in for nearly five decades.

In January 1991, Scott was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and began using a wheelchair. Through his connection with the Colorado Springs PVA sub-chapter, he became a life member of PVA and, with the support of his PVA representative, successfully established service connection for his MS. Since that time, Scott has remained actively involved with the chapter, participating in the PVA bowling league and tournaments, assisting with bingo fundraisers, and supporting the annual bowl-a-thon.

Scott has served on the chapter board for several years and is a familiar and welcoming presence at PVA events and at the VA Medical Center. He is often accompanied by his English Cream Golden Retriever service dog, Zane. Members are always encouraged to stop and say hello.
