After serving six years in the U.S. Navy as an engineman and master-at-arms, Jeff went on to raise a family and coach youth flag football, basketball, track and volleyball, earning the nickname Coach T. He also volunteered as the assistant youth sports director at the nearby YMCA, in addition to serving as president of the parent-teacher organization at his sons’ elementary school. Later, he volunteered for 12 years at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, where he helped schedule patients for physical and occupational therapy.

In 2002, after being nominated by students and teachers at the school where he volunteered, Jeff was selected as a torchbearer for the Olympic torch relay on its journey through Cheyenne to the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. He remembers pushing his wheelchair through 2 inches of wet snow. Today, the torch he carried hangs on his living room wall.

Jeff has been married to his wife, Cathy, for 47 years. They have three sons, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They love to travel in their motorhome and attend their grandchildren’s sporting events.

Jeff enjoys working with people and wants to help the Chapter grow. He believes nothing is more important than faith, family and friends.
