Eric Allen has served on the Board of Directors of the Mountain States Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America since December 2019.

During his tenure, he has served as director-at-large, secretary, and vice president, and has been chapter president since 2023. In each role, Eric has remained committed to strengthening the chapter and fostering connection, collaboration, and shared purpose among members.
Eric is a U.S. Army veteran who served during Operation Desert Storm. A training accident resulted in severe burns that left him visually impaired; despite this setback, he went on to build a successful 25-year career as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager in the oil and gas industry. In 2012, Eric experienced a stroke-like event that caused cognitive challenges and paralysis on his right side. He was later diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. With the support of his family, advances in medical care, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Eric regained some of the function he initially lost and found renewed purpose in advocacy and service.
Long before becoming disabled himself, Eric was deeply involved in service and volunteerism. As a college student, he began tutoring math and chemistry, sparking a lifelong commitment to helping others. Over the years, he has supported organizations including Easter Seals, Colorado Discoverability, Challenge Aspen, and Park County Search and Rescue. Eric has worked with individuals with disabilities in outdoor recreation since the 1980s and earned his adaptive skiing certification from the Professional Ski Instructors of America in 1994. Today, he reflects on his journey as coming full circle—now benefiting from the same kinds of support he once provided to others.
Eric lives in the mountains of Colorado with his high school sweetheart, Stephanie Allen, and enjoys spending time with their children and grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, scuba diving, and boating, and he is always eager to try something new.
