Peer Support & Community

Living with a spinal cord injury or disease can be isolating, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

What is peer support?

  • Peer support is a voluntary, non-clinical connection between veterans with shared experiences.
  • The Mountain States Chapter’s Peer Support Program connects veterans with others who have lived experience and understand the journey.
  • Peer support is available to veterans with spinal cord injury or disease, including those who are newly injured or newly diagnosed, as well as veterans facing new challenges or transitions.
  • Our peer mentors are veterans living with spinal cord injury or disease who offer understanding, perspective, and encouragement, not counseling or therapy.
  • Support may take place by phone, video, or in person, depending on availability.

Veterans can speak with someone who truly understands, and gain practical insights. Family members and caregivers seeking guidance are also welcome. You do not need to be a member to reach out.
