Andrew Lewis brings more than 25 years of experience in military service, public service, technology operations and veteran peer support.

Andrew has served on the Mountain States Chapter Board of Directors since 2021.

Andrew earned a Bachelor of Science in aerospace administration from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He served in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic and completed aviation and specialty training in hydraulics, structures maintenance and hazardous materials safety. After his military service, Andrew worked in aviation and public-sector roles, including as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration and an assistant access manager with the Colorado Department of Transportation.

He currently works as a DevOps engineer, supporting software development and technology infrastructure across multiple business units for a national insurance company.

Andrew sustained a spinal cord injury in a motorcycle accident during a veterans’ rally and spent more than 100 days hospitalized. Through his own recovery, he developed a commitment to supporting veterans with disabilities.

Today, he serves as a peer mentor with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, where he supports individuals living with spinal cord injuries and helps guide them through rehabilitation and adaptation.

As a board member, Andrew supports community disability advocacy, has helped secure grant funding for the chapter, and regularly represents the organization at community events, including the United Spinal Association’s Roll on Capitol Hill, Walk to Defeat ALS, and Veterans Day events. Andrew lives in Colorado.
